Mount Laguna is home to a wide variety of plants and animals native to the coastal Peninsular mountain range. Oak and pine trees, elderberry, wild roses, nettles, prickly pear and ceanothus are only a few of the plants on the mountains. Mule deer, wild turkeys, coyotes, bats, stellar jays, woodpeckers, hawks are a few among a diverse array of animals that abound on the mountain.The native Americans who lived in the Lagunas’ on a regular seasonal basis were very familiar and adept at using these natural resources for food, medicine, and household.
