Cabin Paint Colors

The Forest Service has changed their policy on the cabin paint colors.  There is no longer an official set of approved colors.  However, they do want everything in greens, browns and grays.

Until we hear otherwise, whenever a cabin owner wants to paint their cabin, a cabin improvement request must be submitted to the local Forest Service district office. The request must be submitted between January 1 and March 30.   In the past, it would be approved for implementation in the next calendar year.  It is very possible that the approvals are quicker and without an implementation delay.

We still think that a paint chip, color sample, or the name of the paint company and color name should be attached to the improvement request form.

The request form and color sample should be sent to the USFS staff member in charge of Recreation Residence permits.

Here are the previously required cabin paint colors.  This restriction has been lifted.   But expect that they will not approve colors other than some shade of green, brown, or gray.  Fluorescent green is also very unlikely to be approved.

The request form and color sample should be sent to the USFS staff member in charge of Recreation Residence permits.
